I really just felt like the drive and was not expecting to much but as per usual was ever optimistic. The surf school is really busy and the shop too. A new delivery of surfboards arrived yesterday so they are all being unpacked right now. The beach shop is coming to life now and with a new coat of paint it looks as though it is supposed to be alive. Amaryllis hotel is where the beach shop is located, on the south coast, and from there is where most of our surf lessons are conducted over summer. Its the only place that has waves. South Point has been throwing up knee to waist high surf and if you longboard its been the nicest little wave around. I am just about ready for the wind to drop so that I can enjoy some east coast action. Merrick has been surfing with us for a while now and is just about off on his own but likes to have someone around him just to encourage him to pick certain waves but he can do all of the wave catching on his own, and his wave riding and the moves he has on boards 9' and 10' long are great he is truning and surfing well. We had luck on our side and found Freight's bay with perfect, and I mean perfect, little waves. Small clean and nice line. I do confess to starting the day with a skimboard session. It was small but it helps to keep you fit. Damn swell like its gonna get smaller before it gets bigger and I just cant see the summer time ever arriving for the east coast. It's simple I just want summer time waves so I can show off with my longboard and catch ever wave out there. I have been taking late afternoon sessions at Brandons and South Point and it has been fantastic. Thw little pulse that was around was up and down all the time and was usually better around the low tide that was filling back up. Most days the surf has only been good enough for your committed longboarder or the kids.
