A common question lately and since for ever has been, where are the best places to surf? Now, we offer a service or surf tour's for the accomplished surfer where we shall take you island wide to multiple surf breaks including some of the ones off the more beaten path and allow you to take in some of the island too. For those that are just here for the surf and have their own transport our answer is to show folks the map and offer a quick low down on the breaks we make for them.
Barbados Sout Coast
The main breaks along the South are, Brandons, South Point, Freights and some times on a strong north swell Thunder. Brandons and thunder are just the south side of Bridgetown, Barbados' Capital city.
Thunder has its name for obvious reason's. You can find it next to the Barbados Hilton atthe South end of Carlisle Bay. A fast and steep left, generally, thats hits down like THUNDER!
Brandons A.K.A Drill hall (or vise versa) for reason's I know not. Opposite the Garrison Savannah and down the hill past the Hastings police station is where you shall find it. A nice left reef break. Watch out for groms! It's their favourite spot on the south.
Freight's Bay or Cotton Bay as it is written on the map. Fantastic Longboarding and beginners wave. Good sizable swell will make you jump of the cliff to get at it, but trust me, wait for a hurricane and some deeper water before you do so. If in Atlantic Shores below Oistins and you find a million car's and a tonne of floating people in a bay your on track for Freight's Bay.
South Point, do let let me tell you where to find this! when it breaks it breaks well but it tends to be super crowded for the tiniest waves. Expect some hustle from local "wanna be's" and confused tourist's alike. Not a spot for spectator's since there isn't a bar in miles. No beach can often mean an angry female partner and being forced to do things on your holiday that you don't want to do in place of compensation.
Thats the South coast folks surf well!
