Surf Barbados

To all my regular follower's and folks who know the island, we have had some of the best south coast wave action in since forever. The west coast has been doing its thing but not so large since that good new years or old years swell. Now, as per usual everybody has run to south point since it is the besr break on the island? Not exactly. South point has been typical of this time of year and not to break habit damn right boring. I have surfed or been lucky enough to surf south point when it has been perfect. Breaking from the top and linking all lower peaks provided you have the speed. Now from what I remember the conditions need to be large and relatively wind free. This has not been the case of late and so south point has been true to its name and pointless. I still do wish more folks would go and leave my prefered and better breaks alone. But the other side of me wants to tell people about Brandons, Sandy Bay and Freights. These are all breaks that do not suffer the wind like south point does and more oftan than not provide better waves than south point, not to mention that these other breaks are a lot more friendly to the inexperienced surfer. Lately all the surfing I have done has been at Brandons and Freights and its always been large enough and long enough to call a great session. Freights can get a little crowded with the circus of some surf schools and how they believe surfing lessons should be conducted but otherwise waves have always been plentiful. Brandons a little less crowded and always head high or more. My longboard and I have enjoyed awesome long nose rides and full rail turns. Fat Kane, or Fat Turns as he is sometimes known, has been moving at the speed of light on the toothpick Sretch quad and destroying crackling lips. We see people who talk about how good South point was and one look says your lying or you know not what you talk about and are forgiven. Surf vacationers I urge you to leave South point alone until it is working or on fire. The advice you were given is wrong but forgive the guy who gave it to you for they know nothing about surfing and this you can see from there level of surfing all they want from you is to look as stupid as they do. Remember, the wave riding part of surfing is the fun part and the longer the ride the more fun. The island is so small use everyside of it. Move around! You've paid your money to be here traveling surfer's so get out there and surf enjoy it and improve your surfing. Find waves that let you get better rides, long rides. Another idea I would like to bring to you traveling surfer's is remember etiquette and stop drppingin on people. Try and remember a friendly drop is excusable and fun. Dangerous drop-in's are dangerous and promote hostility. Be nice guys do unto one as one would have done to ones self. Sorry to be spiritual. Thats all for now guys I have to finish planning my wedding and then go and get wet again so I hope to see you out there in the line up.
